Below are frequently asked questions we get often. If you would like to submit a question, please email us at info@chuckanutvet.com. We will select pertinent questions and reply as soon as we are able. Your answer will be sent to your email address and may be included below as we update our FAQ.
Please note: It is important that you contact us with specific concerns you may have for your pet. Please call us to address those concerns immediately.
Why do I need to vaccinate?
Vaccination boosts your pet’s immune system to enable it to fight specific diseases. Without vaccines, your pet may not be able to defend itself from these infections and may become sick and/or die.
When should I spay or neuter my pet?
We recommend spaying and neutering your pet between five and six months of age.
Should I be worried about fleas and ticks?
In Western Washington, fleas and ticks are a major problem. Not only are they an irritant to your pet, they can cause severe skin problems as well as carry other diseases (.i.e. lymes disease).
What causes itching?
There are many causes of itching. The most common that we see are parasites (fleas, ticks, etc.), food allergies, and atopy (pollens in the air). We can set up a program to help identify your pets problem and a plan for relief of his or her itching.
We are planning on traveling to Canada, do I need to do anything in advance?
If you are driving, all that is needed is a current Rabies certificate. If you are flying you will need a health certificate. This applies to dogs and cats only. For other species, please inquire.
