Expert Dietary Consultations

Based on your pet's age, breed, species, and health status, their dietary needs and preferences can significantly change. Because of this, we are here to offer dietary counseling to assist you in figuring out what food best fits your pet's needs.

Many pets have special health conditions or are in an age bracket that means they have particular dietary needs. Your dog or cat deserves the best possible care in every aspect of their life. Because of this, we are here to provide our veterinary knowledge and experience to you in choosing a diet that best meets your companion's needs.

We look forward to working with you and your pet to provide a medically supervised, veterinarian-approved nutrition plan to help them stay happy and healthy for years to come!

Nutrition Counseling, Burlington and Bellingham Vet

Nutritional Consultations For Weight Loss

During a nutritional consultation, our vets will take into account your pet's calorie intake and show you where we can make changes to maximize weight loss or target specific health issues, often using the same food you are currently feeding with supplements or secondary foods.

The Dietary Counseling Process

We’ll start the counseling process by conducting a physical exam and a detailed health analysis to determine your pet’s specific nutritional needs, and then use that information to develop a customized food plan to meet those needs.

We may recommend using prescription diet food products, depending on whether we feel they will provide added benefits for your pet that regular products do not.

We will revisit our plan from time to time to make sure it is still as effective as it once was. As pets age, their nutritional needs often change, so we must reassess the situation every so often.

How can Dietary Counseling help me?

Our dietary counseling services can help address concerns you might have with your pet's nutrition and health. It can also help you:

  • Manage food allergies
  • Decode nutritional labels
  • Control health conditions such as diabetes
  • Help your pet achieve a healthy weight for their breed, size, and age
  • Learn which and how much food to feed your pet for optimal health
  • Choose food for your pet based on their needs and your budget
